In my post 60+ Places To Find Blogging Opportunities I touched briefly on using Twitter to find blogging opportunities. Today I’m elaborating on this and showing you how to use Twitter to find blogging campaigns and collaborations using hashtags.
Why Use Twitter To Find Blogging Opportunities?
Twitter is a rapidly-moving meeting place for hundreds of thousands of brands and bloggers. One of the quickest ways for brands to reach out to bloggers is to use specific and familiar hashtags which are searchable. These requests appear instantly on Twitter so it’s a great way for a blogger to find new opportunities in one place. You can find product review opportunities, paid work and other collaborations this way.
Which Hashtags Should You Use?
There are a few well-known hashtags in use on Twitter which can be used to search for blogging opportunities. Brands and PR companies use them within their tweets when trying to attract bloggers. These are:
#bloggerswanted
#bloggersrequired
#bloggerrequest
#PRRequest
You can also search #journorequest which is mainly used by journalists looking for people and material for their publications. These types of opportunities are not always blogging-related but occasionally they can be.
Other Phrases You Can Search For
You can also be inventive on Twitter and search for particular phrases. The search will pull up any combination of the words you use. I use phrases such as ‘looking for UK bloggers‘, ‘paid blog op‘, ‘lifestyle bloggers wanted‘, ‘are you a blogger‘ and so on. You can see what works for you and brings you the most relevant results.
How To Search On Twitter
Searching for a specific hashtag on Twitter is very easy. I use the advanced search option to set up my searches. Visit Twitter’s advanced search and type in the relevant hashtags into the ‘These hashtags’ box. The results will show you any tweet that has any of those hashtags in (or a combination of any of them). You can also specify the date you want to see tweets from. I will generally use within the last week or fortnight to find the most relevant new opportunities. You could also use the filter ‘latest’ to see the most recent tweets first when the search results come up.
When you get your search results, you can click on the three little dots in the upper right hand of the screen and save your search. This will make it quicker for you every time you want to search for blogging opportunities.
Other Ways To Use Twitter
In this post I mention a few Twitter accounts which regularly retweet blogging opportunities. Following these accounts will help you keep track of their retweets. You can also add these accounts to a list in Twitter to easily see all of their tweets in one feed. To set up a Twitter list, click on ‘Lists’ underneath your profile photo and then ‘Create new list’. Give it a name and a description if you want to, and then decide if you want it to be a private or public list. If it’s public, anyone can view it of course. You can add Twitter accounts to your list and visit the list at any time to see only tweets from those accounts. Twitter is such a fast moving network that this is a great way to filter tweets by a particular purpose.
You can follow me on Twitter too as I often retweet blogging opportunities I find.
Some bloggers also send out tweets using these hashtags when looking for collaborations with brands, or when looking for material for particular posts they’re working on. To schedule tweets, I recommend Socialoomph which I use for all of my Twitter accounts. I recommend not spamming the hashtags with too-frequent requests to allow the opportunities stand out in the search results.
Happy collaborating!
