Quick and easy money making methods are really making a difference to my monthly income. One of the ways I make a little money on the side is via my shopping receipts. Nowadays I never just throw away my shopping receipts. There are two apps that pay you money or vouchers for just taking an image of your receipts. I have been using these for several weeks now and have just cashed out £10 via PayPal from each one. Not bad for less than a minute’s worth of work a day.
Receipt Hog
Receipt Hog is really easy to use. You just take a photo of your receipt via the app. Once the photo is processed, coins are awarded based on the amount of the receipt. For example, you get 5 coins for a receipt of less than £10, and 10 coins for £10 to £50. You can scan a receipt for almost anything you buy. Supermarket shopping, pharmacy buys, toy stores…most types of receipt are accepted. You cannot upload photos of receipts for cinema tickets or service invoices. Certain types of shops, such as clothing stores and bookshops, qualify you to receive spins at the Hog Slots. This is like a little fruit machine that allows you win coins for these receipts, as well as other prizes. I have only ever won coins so far.
Every receipt you enter into the app also gives you one sweepstakes entry. There are also bonus coins awarded for each week you upload receipts. The amount of the weekly bonus depends on your level within the app. The more you upload, the higher your level becomes.
Make sure to scan receipts in within 14 days of the purchase, as any older than that will not be accepted.
When you hit certain thresholds you can opt to have your coins swapped for Amazon vouchers, PayPal cash or Mastercard prepaid cards. The lowest amount you can cash out is a £3 Amazon voucher, which happens when you reach 1000 coins.
Shoppix
Shoppix is very similar to Receipt Hog. The premise is exactly the same: upload photos of your receipt to earn tokens. Eventually you can cash them out for PayPal cash, Amazon vouchers, iTunes vouchers or Love2Shop vouchers. You can also move up shelves (levels) by scanning receipts on a weekly basis.
To earn bonus tokens, scan on a regular basis and complete the in-app surveys, all very short and easy to do, to earn scratchcards.
You can get more tokens via the scratchcards. Each scratchcard you use, whether you win or lose, enters you into a weekly prize draw for bonus tokens.

Shoppix only accepts receipts which are 7 days old or less, so make sure to scan yours in as soon as possible.
Both apps are really quick and easy to use, and you get used to saving receipts to scan in to them. I love apps that pay you money and these are two of my favourites.

U.S. readers will be disappointed because Shoppix is available only in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, I will continue to use and enjoy Receipt Hog as I have for a few years.
